First Israeli Passport issued to surrogate newborn in Thailand

The government  issued an Israeli passport on Monday for a child born in Thailand to a surrogate mother and a homosexual couple.
This is the latest development in the controversial issue of Israeli homosexual couples having children with Thai surrogate mothers in Thailand. However, the trend is expected to end in November when the Thai government will no longer allow surrogacy. The government has recognized the newborn as Israeli due to the father's citizenship. However, the government does not recognize the Thai mother's relinquished custody.
