The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its policy that foreign leaders visiting the Palestinian territories must also stop in Israel, when it responded to a request last week by Columbian Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin to go to Ramallah.The Ministry asked her to add Jerusalem into her schedule and did not grant the request to solely head to Ramallah. Holguin was unable to place both stops on her schedule and cancelled the visit.Foreign Ministry spokesman Emmanuel Nahshon, that it was foreign ministry policy to have top diplomats visit both Jerusalem and Ramallah. This is especially important when you talk about a country like Columbia that has such close and friendly relations with Israel, he said.
