Former Turkish president Evren dies at 97

ISTANBUL-  Former Turkish president Kenan Evren, the leader of a 1980 coup who came to symbolize the military's decades-long dominance over politics, has died aged 97, the state-run Anadolu news agency said on Saturday.
Evren, who had been receiving treatment at a military hospital in Ankara, was pronounced dead late on Saturday, Anadolu said, without citing its sources. (Reporting by Nick Tattersall and Gulsen Solaker in Ankara; Writing by Nick Tattersall; Editing by Andrew Roche)
