Fox News: US got first tip on bin Laden locale in August

The first solid intelligence leading to the operation that killed Osama bin Laden came to the United States in August, Fox News reported Monday.

According to the Fox report, Obama renewed the US effort to capture the al Qaida mastermind in June of 2009, and in August he received a tip that eventually lead US forces to bin Laden's compound deep in Pakistan.

On April 29, he authorized forces to directly target bin Laden. The al Qaida leader was killed Sunday night.
