French Foreign Ministry summons Iran's ambassador

The French government has summoned Iran's ambassador for an explanation about the conduct of last week's presidential elections. Foreign Ministry spokesman Eric Chevallier also says in an electronic briefing that he hopes the ambassador will listen to France's "concerns" about the vote. Chevallier says France wants "clear answers" to doubts about legality of the vote, which the opposition says was marked by fraud. Iran's supreme leader has ordered an investigation into allegations of election fraud. Opposition candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi says he is the rightful winner of Friday's presidential vote. Incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad officially has been declared the victor. The Iranian Embassy said Monday it did not know when the meeting would occur.
