H1N1 A strain appears; covered in this year’s flu shot

All four health funds have begun vaccinating members against the flu; the vaccine, which is free, includes the H1N1 A strain that frightened health authorities worldwide last year but turned out not to be harmful except to people with chronic illnesses and weak immune systems.
The Health Ministry reported Thursday the first case of the season of infection with an H1N1 A strain -- a 20-year-old woman, who has recovered. The B strain is the common one all year round.
