High Court calls for water infrastructure plan for east Jerusalem neighborhoods

The High Court of Justice decided on Monday that within 14 days, relevant parties must sit to outline a plan for the upgrading of water infrastructure in four east Jerusalem neighborhoods, according to the Association for Civil Rights in Israel (ACRI).
In March, ACRI, along with area residents, petitioned the High Court regarding the lack of suitable water flow in the Ras Hamis, Ras Shahada, Dahyat a-Salam and Shuafat refugee camp neighborhoods. The judges determined on Monday that the plan will need to detail plans for water main upgrades, as well as include fees to be charged to residents of the neighborhoods benefiting from the renovation, according to ACRI. The plans, which are set to impact some 80,000 residents, must be submitted to the court within 60 days, the organization said.
