Hiss gets official replacement at forensic institute

Dr. Chen Kugel has been named as the new director of the L. Greenberg Institute of Forensic Medicine at Abu Kabir, replacing the longtime and controversial head, Prof. Yehuda Hiss, who was dismissed six months ago over allegations of misplaced body parts and tissue. The announcement was made by the Health Ministry on Wednesday.

Kugel was Hiss’s deputy until eight years ago. It was he who complained to the State Comptroller over Hiss’s improper handling of body parts. The ministry congratulated the new director and thanked Hiss for his dozens of years of running the forensic institute.
