Hollande: France to uphold arms embargo on Syria

France will uphold EU embargo on weapon deliveries for the Syrian rebels as it has no guarantee the weapons won't fall into the hands of terrorists, French President Francois Hollande told France 2 on Thursday.
Two weeks ago, France and Britain pressed for the relaxation of the arms embargo on Syria so that weapons could be transported to rebels fighting a two-year war against Syrian President Bashar Assad.
"We will not do it [send arms to rebels] as long as we cannot be certain that there is complete control of the situation by the opposition," Hollande told France 2.
