Israel, Canada seal free-trade agreement aimed at strengthening ties

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Canadian counterpart, Steven Harper, met in order to finalize a deal improving the two countries free trade agreement.
"We have a deep appreciation for the broad and inimitable cooperation from the Canadian government that has blossomed in recent years," Netanyahu said shortly after the meeting concluded.
"The free trade agreement is just one example."
Officially called the Canada-Israel Free Trade Agreement [CIFTA], the agreement will "reduce or eliminate Israeli tariffs on a large number of product", according to official statement by the Canadian prime minister's office, and will allow both countries to mutually expand access to each others agricultural and fishing sectors.
"This robust CIFTA will support Canadian businesses and investors, deepen trade and investment linkages, and further strengthen Canada’s bilateral relationship with Israel," the official statement continued.
