Outgoing Mossad Director Yossi Cohen on Sunday urged Israel to increase its "activity" against Iran in a speech at a ceremony at Bar Ilan University where he was one of several people to receive an honorary doctorate.
Cohen was awarded the degree for his work to protect Israel, his decades of commitment, innovation and excellence in his roles and for his efforts in securing the Abraham Accords.
"Activity against the Iranian regime must be stepped up so that it understands that crossing lines will cost it immense damage," Cohen said on Sunday.
"[Israel must] fight it and its actions to the bitter end, until it understands that whenever it crosses a line, it will suffer enormous damage," he added.
Cohen spoke on the behalf of Bar-Ilan's 2021 class of honorary doctorates, each of whom has had a broad impact in a range of disciplines in Israel and across the world.
"To succeed, we need leadership and courage, and willingness to act," Cohen said. "Today's security operation is no less important than tomorrow's war."
Cohen graduated from Bar-Ilan 24 years ago, earning a degree in social sciences. His tenure as Mossad director ends on June 1.
