Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade killer’s brother released to house arrest

Five days after being arrested for conspiring with his incarcerated sibling to attack participants at last Thursday’s Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade, Yishai Schlissel’s brother, Michael, has been released to house arrest, police said on Sunday. Both men were detained one day before the controversial annual procession was scheduled to begin in downtown Jerusalem after evidence surfaced that Michael allegedly intended to carry out attacks in his brother’s stead. Yishai Schlissel was sentenced to life imprisonment last month for stabbing Shira Banki, 16, to death at last year’s parade. He was rearrested in prison. Amid unprecedented security, police arrested 30 suspects and seized two knifes during the parade, which had a record 25,000 participants. No injuries were reported.
