Jerusalem man accused of raping daughter acquitted

A Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court judge on Wednesday acquitted a man accused of repeatedly raping his daughter, citing unreliable testimony and possible collusion with the daughter’s mother and aunt following acrimonious divorce proceedings. The defendant, who is in his 50s, was first accused of the crime in 2011. One year later, he filed for a restraining order against his wife for alleged domestic abuse. The couple’s daughter, now in her 30s, alleged that her father raped her multiple times between the ages of 12-16. Additionally, his ex-wife’s sister claimed he abused her two decades ago. The man was never arrested. On Wednesday, his attorney deemed the acquittal long overdue, stating, “The phenomenon of false complaints is an evil that must be fought.”
