Jerusalem Municipality to add 250 solar bus info signs

The Jerusalem Municipality announced Tuesday that it will begin installing 250 solar-powered information signs at bus stops throughout the capital next week. According to a statement issued by the municipality, the signs will provide up to the minute information on arrival times for all public buses. The NIS 25 million project is funded by the municipality and the Transportation Ministry, the statement said. The solar-powered information boards will join 170 electric-powered signs at different stops.
Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat praised the initiative as part of his master plan to continue to advance the capital’s transportation infrastructure. “Public transportation in Jerusalem continues to advance, to adapt to the needs of passengers, and the international standards of modern transportation,” he said. “We will continue to improve public transport in the city so we can give residents the optimal service they deserve.”
