Knesset: Lapid to head new Buildings Committee

Finance Minister Yair Lapid has been chosen by the Knesset to head the "Housing Committee" Army Radio reported on Sunday.

The committee's main purpose will be to initiate new housing projects to accommodate the needs of an increasing population.

Lapid has been on the receiving end of a growing number of protesters who resent Lapid's economic policies. One Tel Aviv protester said, "Yair Lapid usually speaks about the middle class, those that make 15-25 thousand shekel per month...most of the country makes 4,000-5,000 shekel per month - its disgusting."

Lapid will be joined on the committee by several other Knesset MKs including Energy and Water Minister Silvan Shalom and Defense Minister Moshe Ayalon.
