Knesset raises IDF retirement age to 55

The Knesset's Welfare and Labor Committee approved on Wednesday a measure raising the military age of retirement to 55, Army Radio reported. Combat soldiers and those in combat support roles who complete 25 years of active service will be able to retire at age 50.
The measure, which was attached as an amended to the Arrangements Law, will take effect in three years and current salaried soldiers will receive some form of compensation for the increase in their expected retirement age.
