Edelstein says MKs will not receive flu vaccines early

Medical teams, the elderly and those with preexisting conditions will be the first to receive the vaccine.

Health Minister Yuli Edelstein will not permit MKs and Knesset workers to receive flu vaccinations before Israeli citizens, sources close to him said on Wednesday.
Edelstein said that there is a clear order and that “medical teams, the elderly and those with preexisting conditions will be the first to receive the vaccine.”
He was responding to a Ynet report that the Knesset health clinic sent a request to healthcare providers to provide them with flu vaccinations for MKs and Knesset staff that they would receive before Israeli citizens.
The Knesset House Committee voted on Wednesday to give MKs a recess for the upcoming Jewish holidays.
The vacation will start on Thursday and end on October 11.
The Knesset last went on vacation from August 27 to September 7, when the building was locked down for maintenance.
The parliament barely worked from when it was dispersed in December 2018, through three elections held from April 2019 to March 2020.
