Liberman: We need to have only 4 or 5 parties in Knesset

Admitting that Israel's political geography will never resemble the two-party domination of the United States, Foreign Minsiter Avigdor Liberman on Friday said the country has to move toward a situation where there are only four or five parties in the Knesset.
Liberman, speaking less than 24 hours after announcing the merger of his Yisrael Beytenu party with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's Likud, held a press conference to discuss the process that lead to the union and what the new party will look like.
The new party, he said, will be "two factions on one list," describing it as a natural union.
"It is important that we build a wide, national camp," which traditionally, has Israel for many years, Liberman said.
