Litzman asks PM to protect nation's haredim

Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Wednesday to ask the premier to help fight what he said was a negative campaign against then nation's haredim (ultra-Orthodox).
According to the Army Radio report, Netanyahu told Litzman at the meeting in the Knesset in Jerusalem that he is trying to separate out the extremist haredim from the general haredi population.
The haredi community has become the center of attention in Israel over attempts by some groups to enact gender segregation on public buses serving haredi neighborhoods, and attacks on females including one instance where an eight-year-old girl was spat on for "immodest dress."
