Mid-May light showers fall over Israel

Mid-May showers fall over Israel Despite the hot temperatures felt throughout much of the country, light rains fell intermittently in many areas of Israel on Monday. The wet weather was the result of an upper air trough with a deep depression over Egypt, which caused instability in the atmosphere and clouds coming in from the southwest, according to Dr. Amos Porat, head of the Israel Meteorological Services Climate Department.
Overnight between Monday and Tuesday, IMS forecasters predicted possible isolated showers accompanied by thunderstorms, mainly in the North, as well as heavy mist in the northern Negev and along the coast. For Tuesday, partly cloudy conditions and a drop in temperatures is likely, as well as a rise in humidity and chance of light rain in the North. By Wednesday, the IMS forecasted clear to partly cloudy conditions with slightly warmer temperatures.
