Ministers to vote on bill to make their votes transparent

Ministers will decide whether or not to make their choices public or not on Sunday, when a bill submitted by MK Nitzan Horowitz (Meretz) calling to make the Ministerial Committee for Legislation transparent is brought to a vote.
The ministerial committee decides the coalition's position on legislation on the Knesset's docket, essentially deciding the fate of various bills. A proposal that is not authorized by the Ministerial Committee for Legislation is unlikely to pass. The committee's schedule and the way ministers vote is not officially made public, though they are often leaked to the press.
Earlier this year, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni campaigned to make the committee transparent, but cabinet secretary Avichai Mandelblit said the articles of operations for the government would have to be changed to do so.
