Moderate 5.8 quake hits Bulgaria near Sofia

A moderately strong 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck Bulgaria on Tuesday at a relatively shallow depth of 5.7 miles (9 km), only 14 miles (23 km) west-northwest of the capital Sofia, the US Geological Survey said.
The quake hit at about 3 a.m. local time. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
