More than 1,000 Syrians enter Turkey

ISTANBUL - A total of 1,050 people have crossed the border from Syria to Turkey in the last 24 hours, state-run Anatolian news agency said on Thursday, marking a sharp acceleration in numbers fleeing unrest in Syria.
Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday Turkey would not close its doors to Syrian refugees and urged the government there to curb violence against civilians. Anatolian said earlier 448 Syrians had entered Turkey on Wednesday.
