Mugabe sets March 16 for vote on Zimbabwe constitution

HARARE - Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe set March 16 as the date for a national referendum on a proposed new constitution, according to a government notice on Friday.
The vote is a crucial step towards a general election to end a four-year coalition government.Mugabe and bitter rival Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai formed a power-sharing government after a disputed 2008 vote and agreed to hold fresh polls only after adopting a new constitution.
