Netanyahu: The nation embraces Saraya family after tragedy

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Monday evening telephoned the Saraya family to express his condolences after three brothers drowned last week on the Ashkelon Coast.

Thousands attended the funeral of 16-year-old Ataf Saraya , 26-year-old Nahed Saraya and 19-year-old Suleiman Saraya. The funeral was held in the Beduin village of Kuseifa near the family's home.

The prime minister expressed his shock over the tragedy again at a traditional Mimouna ceremony in Or Yehuda, saying: "I would like you to know about the pain that I feel for the families that lost loved ones in traffic accidents and for the Saraya family, which lost three of its sons in a tragedy off the coast of Ashkelon."

He said he had urged the bereaved father, Hassan, to find the strength to overcome the disaster.

The three brothers from the Negev were laid to rest Sunday.
