New Ground Forces commander takes up post

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz appointed Cmdr. Guy Tzur tothe position of Commander of Ground Forces on Sunday at Latrun. Tzuris replacing Cmdr. Sami Turgerman, who will become OC SouthernCommand.

"For three-and-a-half years, you've led the Ground Forces, at a timewhen the IDF is required to deal with unprecedented challenges inbuilding up its forces," Gantz told Turgerman.

Addressing Tzur, the chief of staff added, "Today, in dynamic, complexregional picture, with changes in the nature of combat and advances intechnology, there is no replacement to the Ground Forces. The combinedground battle remains the central and vital component in the IDF'sability to maneuver and win."
