No progress made in negotiations to avoid general strike

No progress was made in negotiations to prevent a general strike from taking place, the Histadrut said on Sunday, according to Channel 10.
The two sides were attempting to reach a compromise in closing a gap between the 10.5 percent cumulative wage hike demanded by the Histadrut and the 1.5% offered by the Finance Ministry for public sector workers.
Histadrut sources said that the general strike will begin as scheduled at 6 am on Tuesday morning.
However, elementary schools will not be affected - at least not immediately. According to Channel 2, the Finance Ministry received a court injunction stopping the teachers from striking, saying that if teachers want to strike, they must give notice 72 hours in advance.
