Number of complaints by police officers drops

The number of complaints submitted by police officers to the Complaints Commission for Police Officers and Prison Wardens fell by 18.5 percent in 2008, according to a report submitted to Knesset Members on Tuesday. Six hundred and sixty complaints, mainly dealing with working conditions, relations with superiors, and promotions were received in 2008, compared with 809 in 2007, the Commission's report said. In once incident reported on by the Commission, a police officer faced widespread abuse by his colleagues, while his superiors failed to provide support after being informed.
