Palestinian prisoner that escaped from jail 13 years ago captured in Nablus

Israel Police on Monday apprehended a Palestinian prisoner in Nablus who had been at large since 2000 when he went on the run from authorities after he was granted a furlough from Ayalon Prison.
Mahmoud Sharaf was sentenced to life in prison in 1991 for robbery and the murder of a bank security guard.
Sharaf was on furlough with two friends in 2000 and did not return to the prison. IDF and special security forces raided the suspect’s house in Nablus on Monday night, and Sharaf was finally apprehended.
He verified his identity and was incarcerated in Hadarim Prison.
Over the last thirteen years of his “extended furlough” Sharaf got married and raised a family.
