Report: Egyptian police officer shot dead by traffickers in Sinai

Human traffickers shot dead an Egyptian police officer in Sinai on Sunday, Palestinian news agency Ma'an quoted security officials as saying.
According to Egyptian officials, two 4x4 vehicles approached the Israel-Egypt border carrying African migrants and opened fire on the Egyptian officer, who was guarding a border post south of the Kerem Shalom crossing with Israel.
Ma'an reported that the officer returned fire, but was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at a hospital in Rafah.
The assailants fled the scene, Ma'an stated.
