Rivlin: Proposal to allow 90 MKs to oust a misbehaving colleague is a sin against voters

President Reuven Rivlin on Monday came out against a proposal that would allow 90 MKs to vote out a colleague for unfitting behavior.
Talk of such legislation arose in the past week after three MKs from the Arab Israeli Balad faction met with the families of terrorists killed by security forces while carrying out attacks.
Speaking at a book launch event on Monday, Rivlin said that the proposal of such a law stemmed from a misunderstanding of what parliamentary democracy is.
"The law to oust MKs is against the definition of the Knesset - that it is the representative of the sovereign power and not the sovereign power itself, it sins against the voting public."
