Road 6 speed limit may rise to 120 kmph

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz signed on Sunday a regulation that would allow highway speed limits to rise from 110 kilometers per hour to 120 kmph. Assuming the regulation receives final approval from the Israel Police, the Transportation Ministry intends to first raise the speed limit on Road 6. If the speed rises to 120 kmph, enforcement against speeding violations would begin once a car is traveling 10 percent above the limit – or 132 kmph.
Road 6 was established by an American company, which designs roads capable of withstanding travel speeds of 130 kmph, and the Transportation Ministry said it therefore expects nothing to impede the implementation of the new regulation.
