Sa'ar to nix decision on shortening summer vacation

Education Minister Gideon Sa'ar is expected to confirm that his decision to shorten summer vacation for students will be reversed at a 4 p.m. Monday press conference.
This follows last Wednesday's announcement that summer vacation for students will end five days sooner this year, meaning that the school year will start on Aug. 1, 2011, rather than Sept. 1 as previously expected.
According to senior sources in the Education Authority, Sa'ar's decision to move the start date back is a reaction to the strong criticism that followed last week's announcement.
