Shin Bet forces near Ramallah fired on an Israeli vehicle by accident after it sped toward them after colliding with another vehicle nearby on Tuesday.
No injuries were caused by the gunfire.
The incident took place after an Israeli driver from the settlement of Ateret got into a light car accident with a Palestinian driver next to a surprise checkpoint near Ramallah, according to Ynet.
The Shin Bet officers saw the vehicle speed toward them and, thinking that they were being targeted by a ramming attack, fired at the vehicle. The driver was transferred to the Sheba Medical Center after he was injured lightly in the traffic accident; he was not injured by the gunfire.
The incident is under investigation.
