Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz on Monday morning commented on Africa Israel Investments Ltd.'s Sunday announcement that it was seeking to restructure NIS 21 billion of debt.
Speaking to Army Radio for the first time since the announcement, Steinitz said that the government was not planning to bail out Israeli diamond mogul Lev Leviev, or to get involved in any way.
He said that the 25 percent decline in shares, though troubling, would not have a "wide-scale effect on the economy."
