Suspected pipe bomb explodes near LA Chabad house

A suspected pipe bomb exploded outside a synagogue in Santa Monica, California on Thursday.
An explosion took place around 6:45 a.m. local time, just north of the Chabad House of Santa Monica.
The FBI, the Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad and the Santa Monica Police Department were on the scene. According to local Los Angeles television station KTLA, authorities seemed to be focusing on private home's rooftop next to the temple.
Police have not confirmed that the explosion was in fact caused by a pipe bomb or that the temple was the target.
