Syrian forces kill 15 on first day of Arab League mission

BEIRUT - Syrian security forces killed at least 15 people across the country on Tuesday, a rights group said, on the day Arab peace monitors began a mission to assess whether Damascus has ended a nine-month crackdown on protests against President Bashar Assad.
The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the toll included at least six people killed in the central city of Homs, where the monitors ran their first day of inspection.
