Tamir appeals 'erroneous' court decision demoting him: I didn't lie

Former Gaza Division commander Brig.-Gen. Moshe "Chico" Tamir appealed on Thursday a military court decision demoting him to the rank of colonel for permitting his underage son to drive an IDF dune buggy and attempting to cover-up a subsequent accident. "I didn't lie, nor did I try to evade filing the report [on the accident], I was just delayed in doing so," Tamir said in his appeal. "The honorable court has severely erred. The punishment is not proportional to the case's severity… the court ignored military court precedents in cases far more severe than Chico's, in which the officers were not demoted. Tamir's punishment is an injustice which justifies an appeal to higher courts," the former Golani Brigade commander's defense team wrote in the appeal.
