A Hamas terrorist being held in an Israeli prison died at the Kaplan Medical Center on Wednesday morning, according to the Israel Prison Service.
The terrorist, from Gaza, had a terminal chronic illness. He was sentenced to life in prison in 1994 on murder charges.
The family of IDF Lt. Hadar Goldin, whose body is being held by Hamas in Gaza, asked the government to follow an earlier decision by the cabinet and not release the body of the Hamas terrorist who died on Wednesday.
Hamas stated that the terrorist's death "crossed red lines," calling the death "evidence of the brutality of the occupation and its deprivation of all human values, ethics and international norms in dealing with the prisoners," according to Al-Resalah news.
A number of Palestinian organizations and terrorist groups spoke out against the death, blaming Israel for "negligence" concerning the terrorist's medical condition. According to Al-Resalah, the terrorist was one of the oldest terrorists in Israeli prisons.
