Two masked men rob Jerusalem bank, make off with tens of thousands of shekels

Two masked men, one armed with a pistol, robbed a Jerusalem bank of tens of thousands of shekels in an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood before escaping in a getaway car, police said Thursday.
According to Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, the robbery took place shortly after noon in Har Nof, in western Jerusalem.
“One of the suspects was armed and they demanded cash,” said Rosenfeld. “They were given tens of thousands of shekels and fled the scene without harming anyone.”
Police set up road blocks within a 20 kilometer radius after being notified approximately 30 minutes after the robbery, but have yet to make any arrests, he said.
Rosenfeld described the robbery as “rare” for Jerusalem, adding that police have opened an investigation and hope to make arrests soon after reviewing surveillance footage from the bank.
