UN: Gaza rocket fire may have killed BBC journalist’s baby

Palestinian rocket fire may have killed the 11-month old son of BBC journalist Jihad Misharawi during the Gaza conflict last November, according to the draft copy of a United Nations report on Operation Pillar of Defense.

The photo of an anguished Misharawi holding his son Omar’s small shroud wrapped body in the hospital on November 14, the first night of the eight-day war, became symbolic of the tragic toll it took on Gaza civilians.

Separately a photo of a smiling Omar was circulated on Facebook and twitter, including by those who wanted to accuse Israel of war crimes and intentionally targeting civilians during that conflict.
