The US Department of State issued a statement Tuesday condemning, 'in the strongest words possible', the two sets of terrorist suicide bombings in eastern Lebanon.
The State Department offered "condolences to the families of those killed" as well as a "speedy recovery to those injured in the attacks."
The statement also voiced support for the efforts of the Lebanese Armed Forces in their struggle "to defend all of Lebanon’s territory against terrorism and to protect the Lebanese people."
The village of Qaa was targeted on Monday in two waves of suicide attacks that killed five people. The first group of bombers attacked before dawn and the second later at night, two of them blowing themselves up near a church.
Security officials believe Islamic State militants were behind the attack. There has been no claim of responsibility.Reuters contributed to this article.
