The Secretary of the US Air Force Deborah Lee James concluded a three-day visit to Israel on Tuesday, during which she met with IAF chief Maj.-Gen. Amir Eshel and discussed ongoing cooperation between the two air forces.
Secretary James was received with an honor guard at the Israeli Air Force headquarters in Tel Aviv, before travelling to Hatzor Air Force Base in southern Israel, where she toured the 105th F-16 combat squadron and flew the advanced combat flight simulator at the IAF Mission Training Center.
She then toured an Iron Dome rocket defense battery in southern Israel and received a briefing from the IAF's Air Defense Commander, Brig.- Gen. Shahar Shohat.
A US Embassy spokesman said that the visit "exemplifies the strong US-Israel military relationship. During her visit, she learned about IAF capabilities first-hand, and looked to the future by discussing the framework for expanded cooperation between the US and Israeli air forces."
