US coalition hits 8 Islamic State targets in Syria and Iraq

WASHINGTON - The United States and its coalition allies staged eight air strikes against Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq since early Thursday, the Combined Joint Task Force overseeing the operations said in a statement.
One strike hit near the key Syrian border town of Kobani, the task force said. Seven other air strikes were conducted in Iraq near Al Hawayja, Bayji, Haditha and Mosul, the statement on Friday said.
