Woman hospitalized following Egged rock attack near Old City

A woman was lightly wounded Wednesday night while en route to the Old City when the Egged bus she was traveling in was repeatedly struck during a rock attack. According to Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, the incident took place just outside the Old City Wall’s at 11:30 p.m. when a group of Palestinian youths pelted the bus with a barrage of rocks, which shattered a window, resulting in a shard of glass piercing her flesh.
“The suspects fled when the bus pulled over, and police and Magen David Adom paramedics quickly arrived at the scene to treat the woman and search for the suspects,” said Rosenfeld, noting that no arrests have yet been made. After receiving first aid, the woman was transferred to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem for treatment, he said. Rosenfeld added that security has been stepped up in and around the Old City to ensure the Light Festival taking place there continues without violence.
