World famous Dead Sea Scrolls scholar Eshel dies aged 52

Prof. Hanan Eshel, a world famous scholar of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Bar Kochba Revolt, passed away after a long battle with cancer early Thursday morning. He was 52.
A former head and current faculty member of Bar-Ilan University's Martin Szusz Department of Land of Israel Studies and Archaeology, Eshel wrote several books and over 200 articles.
He was an expert on the Dead Sea Scrolls as well as the Qumran Scrolls and settlement, the Second Temple Period and the Bar Kochba Revolt of 132-136 CE.
