Yacimovich urges cabinet to approve Palestinian prisoners release

Opposition head Shelly Yacimovich (Labor) on Sunday urged the members of cabinet to vote in favor of releasing 104 Palestinian prisoners as a gesture to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas ahead of the resumption of peace talks.

"This is a hard and painful decision, primarily to the [bereaved] families, but it will not hurt Israel's strength, and it will allow restart the negotiations - a move that could strengthen Israel," she said.

"The prime minister must listen to the majority of the Israeli public, and the majority in the Knesset that supports a diplomatic solution, and stop being led by the extremists in his government," she added.
