Yemen: Al-Qaida fighters kill 2 soldiers, wound 7

A Yemeni security official says suspected al-Qaida militants on motorcycles have killed two soldiers in a drive-by shooting on a military camp in the country's south.
The official says the attack early Friday targeted the Bashhara army post in the city of Zinjibar, the capital of Abyan province. He says seven soldiers were also wounded in the attack.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the press.
Zinjibar has seen a number of attacks in recent months, often carried out by gunmen on motorcycles targeting army posts.
Yemen's government is wrestling with a growing al-Qaida threat from militants who are increasing their operations in the impoverished and largely lawless country on the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula.
