Maimon Hosts Boeing
Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Raymond Conner arrived in Israel with his wife Katie to sign with David Maimon, EL AL’s president and CEO for the largest aircraft acquisition program in its history: 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Tami Mozes-Borovich, vice chairman of EL AL, David Maimon CEO of EL AL, and representatives from Boeing hosted a reception at Dan Hotel.
Guests at the reception included Ishay Davidi, founder and CEO of FIMI Opportunity Funds; Amikam Cohen, chairman of EL AL; US Ambassador Dan Shapiro; British Ambassador David Quarrey; TASE Chairman Amnon Neubach; President of Boeing Israel David Ivry; Vice chairman of EL AL Yudi Levy; and senior partner at FIMI Gillon Beck.
Beit Reuven Museum
The Beit Reuven Rubin Museum in Tel Aviv launched an exhibition last week called, “Between landscape and abstract,” in which Israeli artwork from the Israel Discount Bank collection is being displayed in honor of the bank’s 80th anniversary. Dr. Yossi Bachar, chairman of the bank, thanked Leon Recanati and the Recanati family, the bank’s founders, for their contribution to Israeli culture by purchasing artwork from young artists in an effort to boost their careers.
Lilach Asher-Topilsky, CEO of Israel Discount Bank and Doron Sapir, CEO of Cal took advantage of the evening to launch a series of new credit cards featuring pictures of artworks. Attending the event were: Shulamit Nuss, curator of the Israel Discount Bank Collection; Carmela Rubin, curator of the Rubin Museum; curator Yona Fischer; and Shuki and Rachel Schwartz.
Samet and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art
Over 400 guests attended the Tel Aviv Museum of Art Board of Governors gala evening, which was hosted by the mayor of Tel Aviv and chairman of the board Ron Huldai, his wife, Yael, and Susan Landau, CEO and chief curator of the museum. Attending the formal evening were: chairman of the gala evening Ruti Shetreet and her husband Meir Shetreet; Irit Rapaport; chairman of Friends of Tel Aviv Museum of Art Dina Papo; Dan and Janice Gillerman; chairman of the museum Haim Samet and his wife Varda; Jason and Elital Arison.
Remembering Rabin
Last Wednesday, Moshe and Leon Edery, the owners of Cinema City and United King Films, hosted the family of late pime minister Yitzhak Rabin and others at a premiere screening of the movie, Rabin: The Last Day. The hosts were graced with the presence of Rabin’s children Yuval Rabin and Dalia Rabin; former president Shimon Peres; Bank Hapoalim chairman Yair Seroussi; Isaac and Michal Herzog; Eyal Waldman; Housing Minister Yoav Galant; and actress Yael Abecassis. The same day, Rabin’s grandchildren, Jonathan Ben Artzi and Noa Rothman, participated in a ceremony in memory of their grandfather in New York, with Ronald Lauder, Michal Grayevsky and Israeli consul in New York Ido Aharoni.
The Bridge Builder
Israeli-American Hollywood mogul Haim Saban hosted an invitation-only gala event at his home in Beverly Hills to celebrate the recent release of The Bridge Builder, a biography of Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, founder and president of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, written by best-selling author and journalist Zev Chafets.
Around 100 major figures from the business, entertainment and non-profit worlds gathered at Saban’s home to meet Eckstein, including nternationally acclaimed award-winning singer Enrico Macias, and Tony Rubin, president of the Western Region of Friends of the Israel Defense Forces, along with his wife Linda Rubin.
