Price-controlled breads drop 2.7%

This comes in response to a fall in wheat and oil prices on world markets.

Starting this Monday, the price of subsidized breads will drop by 2.7 percent because of a fall in wheat and oil prices on world markets. The price for a loaf of white bread will be NIS 4.64, down from NIS 4.74. Price-controlled halla will cost NIS 5.07, down from NIS 5.20. Zvia Dori, price supervisor at the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry, said the price of bread should be reduced by 7.42% according to the ministry's calculations. But after examining losses suffered by bakeries from from a previous 4.59% cut in price-controlled breads, the decision was made to moderate the reduction rate to compensate bakeries, she said Sunday.
